Dr. Cathy Jessamy - Babb Launches A Campaign Toward Unifying The Caribbean Community

By:  Jacques Dady Jean

For many years the unity of the Caribbean community of Massachusetts have always been an issue. Recently, Professor Cathy Jessamy Babb placed the first stone toward building a bridge that she hopes will link the different Caribbean communities represented in Massachusetts. Although cultural boundaries, language barriers and other contradictions attempted to discourage her, Dr. Babb successfully drew together a selected group of Caribbean leaders and activists that have the means and the power to make this noble project possible.

Many of the attendees expressed their support  to Babb's unity project. Among them were long time civil rights activist and former elected official Mel King, community leaders Shirley Shillingford, Eno Mondesir, Mark Cooper, Paul Lewis, his honorable John Council Lacorish and many others.

Representatives from the Boston Mayor's office also took part in this wonderful initiative.
