Town Computer Help Desk Support IT Program is a 120-hour hands-on training designed to prepare inner city residents in the Boston Metropolitan area who are interested to begin a new career in the IT industry. Students who complete this program with success will be ready  to deliver cutting edge IT support services to large and small organizations. To qualify for this program, the candidate must have at least a high school diploma or a GED. This program is sponsored by the Town Computer Community Partnership Program.

 

Session 1 – 10 weeks (20 hours

 Intro to Computer and Programming 

  In this class the student will be introduced to basic computer programming and the most popular Microsoft office software and the Internet.

Session 2 – 10 weeks (20 hours)

 Intro to Web Design and E-commerce

 In this course each student will design a web site from scratch.  Students will be introduced to web design techniques, web architecture, web server control panel, domain name management, form and pages properties, basic graphic design, email management, audio and video streaming, e-commerce and online marketing and advertising..

Registration fee $60 ( Fee for this class must be paid by credit card)

 
 

Session 3 – 10 weeks (20 hours)  

Intro to Database Management

 In this course the student learns how to create, manage and repair a database, data structure and maintenance, how to make report and how to make queries.

Session 4 – 10 weeks (20 hours)  

Intro to Basic Electronics, PC Repair and Networking

In this course the students will learn how to build a custom PC, troubleshoot and repair techniques. This class also covers Windows Operating System, hardware and software, peripherals, TCP-IP, Local Area Network, Server and Clients, file sharing, net meeting, project management and customer service.

Registration fee $60

This program also requires a 40-hour internship at Town Computer or any other approved organization.
